What is Shamrock shenanigans?
On Saturday, March 18th, come celebrate St. Patrick’s day at MERUS Adventure™ with a fun-filled day of amazing off-road trail runs with friends and family! Afterward, come hang out with us and enjoy some snacks, music, and fun at the rec center.
MERUS Adventure Club members are invited to join us Friday night for a true Irish get-together! Travel down to The Meadows for burgers and green beer and stay the night under the stars before the trail runs on Saturday!
We will be offering beginner, intermediate, and advanced (green, blue, and black) level trail runs. So, no matter your experience level, there is fun to be had!

Things to See and Experience Along the Way
You will descend 850 feet into the earth and navigate through 4 geological layers of exposed dirt, sand, rock, stone, and the legendary “red dirt” and face more obstacles than you can count along the way with some of the most incredibly beautiful scenery in Texas through Palo Duro Canyon.
As you navigate the park you have opportunities to see incredible sites including a 120-year-old logging cable system, large pieces of petrified wood, hoodoos, purple dirt from the aquatic era when the canyon was underwater, as well as the chance to stop and explore one of our caves along the route and see the spectacular earth below the surface of the canyon.
improving Your Skill and experience
One thing we constantly hear at MERUS from visitors from across the country is how much their skill improves from running our trails. We have designed and built these trails to be a fully engaging experience. Our trails have obstacle after obstacle after obstacle to keep the fun and adrenaline flowing and create a one-of-a-kind experience.
No matter which level of trails you decide to run, you’ll leave the park with more knowledge and skills to help you conquer future adventures. If you feel your skill set developing throughout the day, feel free to join in with a more advanced group to experience different levels of trails!
Camping and lodging
We invite our members to join us Friday night at the member-exclusive camp grounds (The Meadows) for burgers, green beer, and a great time! This event is free to members, but only those who are camping in the meadows will receive a beer ticket!
If you are not a member, we still encourage you to come experience what camping under the beautiful star-lit Texas sky is like at MERUS Adventure™! We have several options for accommodations that include RV hookups, glamping sites, tent/overland camping sites, and a dry cabin (Lookout Bungalow). Bring your camping gear and get settled in the night before and wake up rested to hit the trails Saturday morning!

Questions you might have
For both members and non-members we require registration in order to have an accurate headcount for food, trail runs, and park capacity.
Camping fees are not included in registration for this event. If you would like to camp at the park, please visit our website to make a reservation.
We get it, there’s nothing better than gathering around the campfire after a day on the trails. However, MERUS Adventure™ is currently observing a strict fire ban. Propane cooktops and small propane fire pits are permitted and acceptable. NO WOOD, CHARCOAL, OR NATURAL BURNING FIRES ARE ALLOWED.
In addition, we ask that smokers be prepared to distinguish their cigarettes/cigars in their vehicle. This park is precious to us and we work hard daily to protect it. If you are found to violate these rules, you will be reminded once then asked to leave the park on repeated instances.
Absolutely! We love having pets and furry family at the park. The canyon does provide many natural hazards, in addition to the many vehicles at this event. So for the safety of the animal, we do require pets to be leashed and in your full control at all times.
Open alcoholic beverages and consumption are prohibited in off-road-vehicles during use on trails, in public parking areas. Alcohol consumption is allowed in designated camping and event areas only. Violators will be asked to leave the event.
